The Yorkshire is both a cardigan and pullover sweater in one pattern and fits chest sizes 27″-58″. It is meant be worn as a layering piece over a regular shirt. You can choose a button-up cardigan or a classic shawl collar sweater. The sleeves can be finished by hemming, with regular cuffs, or with cozy thumbhole cuffs.
The pocket options can include large patch pockets, casual slouchy pockets, or traditional single welt pockets.
All of the options can be made with a thick, stable knit fabric with at least 25% stretch. The Yorkshire is best suited for fabrics such as cotton blend French terry, fleece, sweatshirt fleece, ponte, and heavier sweater knits.
The Yorkshire has 16 sizes from teen to plus, individually graded from three unique blocks to ensure consistent fit across all body types. The teen sizes (28-34) are shorter and have different length sleeves to accommodate still growing bodies. Please be sure to check finished lengths in the tutorial before sewing since teens grow at vastly different rates and proportions.
Seam allowances are 3/8” unless otherwise noted. The sweater can be made using just a sewing machine or in combination with a serger.
This pattern is created with layers so you can print only your size by deselecting the other sizes in Adobe Acrobat. The pages are trimless and easy to line up and assemble accurately. The pattern includes a helpful printing guide to show which pages to print for each option, and detailed information on printing and assembling the pattern. The tutorial contains hyperlinks making it easy to jump to pages you need while using it digitally. You can also print it if desired.
