The Berlin Tee is an incredibly versatile pattern. Whether you’re looking for a basic t-shirt, a trendy slim tank, or a cutting edge fashion statement, the Berlin has an option for you.
The tank has narrow shoulders and a slim silhouette. The neckline and armscyes are finished with binding to complete the look. The basic t-shirt can be made with long or short sleeves and includes crew and v-neck options. You can also attach the basic oversized hood if desired.
And then, there are the fancy options. The oversized zipper hood has a 1/4 length angled zipper for a fun accent, and the optional asymmetrical hem adds an easy yet edgy look. There are also detailed instructions for cozy thumb-hole cuffs. It is easy to add or remove length in the bodice and sleeves using the markings included in the pattern.
All of the options can be made with knit fabric with at least 30% stretch. If you want to use a thicker fabric such as sweatshirt fleece I would recommend sizing up to account for the extra bulk. There’s no need to size up for stretchy French terry (one of my personal favorite fabrics).
Seam allowances are 3/8” unless otherwise noted. The shirt can be made using a sewing machine or serger. A double needle is great for finishing the binding on the tank.
This pattern is created with layers so you can print only your size by deselecting the other sizes in Adobe Acrobat. The pages are trimless and easy to line up and assemble accurately. The pattern includes a helpful printing guide to show which pages to print for each option, and detailed information on printing and assembling the pattern. The tutorial contains hyperlinks making it easy to jump to pages you need while using it digitally. You can also print it if desired.
