These joggers and sweatpants can be made with both a slim cuffed pant and straight leg style. The straight leg option is relaxed all over and hemmed at the bottom. The slim option is relaxed around the hips and thighs, and fitted around the calves and ankles.
The straight leg sweatpants can be made with either knit or woven fabric depending on your intended look and feel. French terry, sweatshirt fleece, performance polyesters and other thicker knits are excellent choices. Flannel, fleece, rayon blends, and similar soft fabrics are good woven options. These comfortable pants are perfect for lounging around the house, pajamas, or warm-up athletic pants.
The slim cuffed joggers are best suited for sturdy knits (French terry, sweatshirt fleece, performance polyesters, etc) with at least 40% stretch. Some spandex is recommended for good recovery as well. They can be finished with either knit cuffs or elastic. If using the zippered cuff option, you can also use non-stretch woven fabrics, though we recommend sizing up in this case.
Seam allowances are 3/8” unless otherwise noted. The pants can be made using a sewing machine or serger, though if you use a sewing machine be sure to use a stretch stitch, and all topstitching will need to be done on a sewing machine.
